Night Worker

This pastel is actually a self portrait. The only thing I changed was my hair colour. I was quite a lot younger then and knitting and sewing for the children took up most of my spare time....painting took a back seat until Target Stores came to town. Thank you to Target for freeing me up so I could paint!! This work is now part of the Permanent Collection of the local Art Society.

I really, really like this Sandy. I love the unfinished look to the knitting.

You certainly are very good with those pastels!!!!

Thank you JJ. I don't do many pastels now ...but soon I will have my outdoor studio set up for pastels and oils ....

These portraits are soooo good! Did you study portraiture, or just pick it up from all your years painting and teaching? I love the technique here, and the unfinished look is my favorite.

Thank you Nick...I never studied portraiture as such. ..only as a part of the training for teaching.
I never painted much until the girls had grown up...too busy with other stuff!!
