Beating the Heat

I was looking through some images from the past few years and came across this one. I painted it about between eighteen months and two years ago.It is our elderly cat John, (since deceased). He was rushing indoors to get away from the was another total fireban day with fires close to where we live. Again, we are facing the same dangers, only much worse....our state is so dreadfully dry from the long drought conditions. The firefighters and other emergency services are doing a magnificent job against terrible odds....we are all on alert!

Hanging Rock

I had almost forgotten that I had this one... It was painted about six years ago after a visit to Hanging Rock, an interesting outcrop of rocks near Mt Macedon in Victoria, Australia. There is a novel about this rather unusual area. "Picnic at Hanging Rock" was written by Joan Lindsay and was published in 1967.A film of the same name was made in 1975. The story is set in about 1900. A party of school girls, from a nearby boarding school, were picknicking there ...two of them disappeared with out a trace. The area is very unusual, definitely eerie, especially during those hot, still summer days.... Watercolour on Arches Rough 300gsm Size Approx.52cm x36cm
