Jim's Dad was a good horseman and a farmer.The photograph that I used to paint this picture is quite old and shows the type of houses which were quite common at the time ...usually referred to as miner's cottages, they were also popular for housing on small land holdings. < Private Collection.

My Dad ...retired.

My Dad was a farmer. When he retired,my parents purchased a house in the town of Benalla in Victoria. Dad used to love to sit on the back verandah quietly smoking and enjoying the garden that he and my mother had created. Private collection
