Reflections

Another painting on yupo! This time the model is based on my youngest daughter. Materials used: watercolour, watersoluble oil pastels, bubblewrap, foam roller, wrapping paper, tissues.

This is a great addition to what appears to be perhaps 'a series?'

Your Yupo paintings are very textural, love your use of the bubblewrap!
You've created mystery within these textural shapes and colour that suround this portrait.
I could look at it for ages. Would have been an interesting painting to watch as it developed on the paper.
Can I ask...how long did it take you?

Thanks Perugina...yes it was interesting to watch develop.
I started with textures and got what looked like some reflections...then I knew that I needed a person, so used an image of Jan (our youngest daughter) that I took earlier this year....the light was directly above her and provided the shapes I needed for this.
I suppose it took about three afternoons.

A textural tour de force! Can't remember if you have George James' yupo DVD (CCP), it looks as though you've got a lot of the techniques working. And keeping up with the "other" Sandy's blog is a convenient way to be reminded of what's possible on the stuff. I see you have Donna Z's link - I met her last year at NWS, she's great! HOpe Jim is doing ok.

Thanks Nick! Yes, I do have a George James DVD. It is excellent and a great help with different tools and techniques.
I love the "other Sandy,s" blog and visit often....she is a master yupo user!
Jim is doing o.k. but it will be weeks before he can come home.
